Please Pass The Grey Poupon

So Barack is accused of being an elitist.  By rich Republicans… who typically promote laws that are most harmful to the so-called common man.  The same Republicans who belong to clubs where Barack couldn’t get a membership.  Who gained access to the best schools and halls of power through favors, connections, Dad’s financial contributions, “legacy” policies and damn near everything but merit.  They called Barack an elitist… out of touch with the blue collar, Bud drinking, trailer living, shotgun toting, tobacco chewing White people.  You think??  Thing is, the same is true of everyone leveling the charge. 

Pale In Comparison

So the conventions are done… whoo hoo.  The bases are all fired up… I’m really not sure why.  With the exception of two events, Barack looking like he was on an award tour in front of almost 90k people and Palin’s coming out party, these joints were pretty boring and more scripted than a 70’s sitcom.  They planned everything down to who would deliver what blows and when.  Both sides regurgitated the same stuff we’ve heard for almost two years… the only thing to get excited about was the theater.  Sorry, Repubs, it was no contest.

Democrats are just better at putting on a show… maybe it’s all those Hollywood connections.  I mean damn, hillary had four outfits to see which one played best against the back drop.  The Republicans couldn’t get the projector to work. 

Okay, I Hate Them [A Little] Less

Well, we are long past the point where this blog is a place for an immediate response to the events of the day.  I would like to say that is because I need time to deliberate and calculate my position on the issues… yeah, that’s what I’d like to say.  Anyway, when I finally fire up the keyboard I hope you will still find the posts topical [if not, at least I'm able to get this stuff off my chest so it's not a total loss for me].   

So hillary and bill [yes, they still get the lower case] finally showed they could do what they were supposed to do.  They placed the party above their own selfish agenda.  

Eat Dirt Or Die

I was talking with a friend the other day who mentioned some pregnant women crave dirt, not dirt meaning gossip, dirt meaning dirt… soil… the stuff on the bottom of your shoe.  It made me think of an article I read a few months ago about Haiti.  An AP reporter wrote a story detailing how the poorest of the poor are essentially eating dirt aka “mud cookies” to survive.  The article messed with my head… I couldn’t shake it.  I wanted to write about it in this space but what do you say?  This is literally unbelievable.
