I Am Not Fresh Prince

Checked out I Am Legend… pretty good flick… more of a summer feel than a fall movie but we found it entertaining. I saw a couple of things that rang true, some that were interesting and a few pointers for the end of the world as we know it… without giving away the whole joint…

Divided We Fall

Recently, I was in a discussion /debate where we considered the standing of Black people in America. The main argument from one side was, Black people are about to be further marginalized because of the growing number of Hispanic and Latino people in this country. In fact, Hispanics and Latinos already represent the largest minority group in the U.S. My counter-argument was when it comes to minority groups, size alone doesn’t necessarily translate into power. You’re Not The Boss Of Me

Damn, that didn’t take long. Recently, I wrote about the narrow approval and hasty swearing in of our new Attorney General, Michael Mukasey… well he is already earning points with the Bush administration. You probably heard about how the CIA destroyed videotapes of their people interrogating terror suspects [kinda like your grandpa taping over your favorite show back in the day... alright, maybe this is worse]. Congress, in all their righteous indignation, wrote Mukasey a letter asking for details on the investigation into how the tapes were destroyed and he said, “Nah” [or words to that effect].
