Season Pass

Like everyone else I’ve almost completely abandoned network TV… almost every show I record is on a premium channel.  Love the original shows on FX and Showtime has really come correct in the last two years… HBO was straight dominating my viewing for a minute, in fact, I was starting to wonder why I had Showtime.  What a difference a couple of years make [no Sopranos, no Deadwood].  I mean I liked Flight of the Chonchords but I would be okay if I missed it; I’ve just started watching Curb Your Enthusiasm this year… it’s pretty good… I dig Entourage but they have started to take themselves a little too seriously… and even though I liked it, Lucky Louis was so over the top raunchy I knew it wouldn’t last [how many sitcoms would allow a father to call his adolescent daughter a f*cking *sshole... she was btw].  For now, HBO has to step aside.     

Free The Hard Way

This week there were no fewer than three stories about Black men who were unjustly imprisoned and later freed. 

One is 21 and he was robbed of 2 years of his life for having consensual sex with a 15 year old when he was 17; another is 45 years old and he lost 22 years of his life in prison for a false rape conviction; the third man is 83 years old and was among 27 black soldiers who were convicted for the hanging death of Guglielmo Olivotto, an Italian prisoner of war.  He gave up 1 year of his life in prison and was then dishonorably discharged from the army; he spent 45 years working as a janitor while everyone thought he was a murderer.                 

Am I Boring You?

Can someone slip this dude a couple of NoDoz? Seriously.

This story should have lead every news broadcast?!!? Dick Cheney fell asleep in a cabinet meeting! I’m saying, we’ve all been there… long boring meeting but, check the gangster, he was sitting across from his boss! While he was talking about the fires in California! While cameras were rolling! I’m not sure about what alarms me more. Is it that a pace-makered narcoleptic is one seat from the button? [I mean officially, we all know who has been running this mutha]. Or that he so blatantly flaunts his low regard for Bush and his “office”. I mean, damn, your boss is being filmed talking about a national disaster and you can’t bother to stay awake! Word?? Here’s a tip from me to you… don’t try that at your job.     

Homeland Security

I guess this is the stuff most personal blogs are made of… little everyday annoyances that make you think, “is it me or was that just some dumb sh*t?” 

A little background, I have two business bank accounts and two personal accounts with four different banks [it's just not worth going into why, trust, there are reasons that make sense] and one of the hassles each month is moving the money from one account to another manually.  Of course, I’m old enough to remember everything being done manually in the bank but, damn, we are pretty far removed from that [or we should be].  I still can’t understand why my bill collectors can take my account number and the bank’s routing number and move money from my accounts but I can’t do the same to move money across my accounts. 

Et tu C3?

Well I finally gave in.  I’ve been thinking about blogging for a while but hesitated because it seemed like too much of a commitment [same reason I didn't watch 24 at first - who needs that pressure... though, I eventually gave in to that too.] Turns out 24 is cool as hell… hopefully, I’ll feel the same way about this.
